about eastbourne wargames club...
Welcome to the E.W.C website. We are one of the oldest wargames clubs in the country, having been established in 1970, with one or two of the original members still playing in the games.
We play a mixture of all sorts of wargames, with a list that is too long to detail, but A.C.W, 2nd World War, E.C.W and Colonial are among the favourites, with a mix of rules. Recent games have included modern day Afghanistan, 1940/41 Western Desert games using Flames of War rules Ancients, either DBM or Field of Glory.
At the moment the club consists of about 14 or 15 members, depending on the games on at that time.
We also put on a show every year in the Napoleonic fortress on the seafront, called ‘To the Redoubt’. This year (2009) will be our twenty fifth anniversary so the show has become a fixture on the show circuit. This is a normal wargames show in many respects, with games and traders, one of the major differences being the fact that the games are staged among the exhibits of three major Military Museums. One of our members also runs the Anderida ancients doubles competition every year, begun in 1977 which is also sponsored by the Society of Ancients, see separate sheet for details.
